ADDITIONAL AWARDS FOR SERVICES IN THE BATTLE OF JUTLAND ON THE 31sT MAY 1916.
The KING has been graciously pleased to approve of the following further awards in addition to those announced in the London Gazette of the 15th September 1916 .—

To be a Companion of the Distinguished Service Order.
Lieut.-Cdr. (now Cdr.) Paul Whitfield, R.N. (Prisoner of War interned in a neutral country.) In command of H.M.S. NOMAD, gallantly supported NESTOR and NICATOR in an attack on the enemy battle - cruisers. NOMAD was badly hit and disabled during this attack, but later succeeded in sinking a disabled German destroyer, and finally fired all her torpedoes at the High Sea Fleet, waiting for the last moment before doing so, though the NOMAD was sinking at the time. -
To receive the Distinguished Service Cross.
Surg. Prob. Alexander Joe, R.N.V.R Medical officer of H.M.S. "Nestor." He behaved -with the greatest coolness under fire, tending the wounded single-handed both in " Nestor" and later on board a German destroyer. His conduct was highly praiseworthy throughout. -
