GRENOSIDE SEAMAN'S DEATH
Able-Bodied Seaman Ernest Swift, Grenoside.
The first fatality among Grenoside lads in the great war is that of Able-Seaman Ernest Swift, son of the late Mr. John Swift, of Lump Lane. He was on board the "Black Prince" during the late naval fight, and it is believed he has gone down with all the others. He was a pleasant young fellow, and had served as a sailor for nearly five years. Formerly he was a moulder at Messrs. Newton, Chambers and Co., Thorncliffe.
