My Great-Grandfather was Chief Armourer Harry Stone, who shared
the same fate as many commemorated here on that grey day.

Some photos of him here. I also have the postcards he wrote home,
including one sent after the Battle of the Falklands,
where he talks of rescuing oil-covered German sailors.
He describes how it brought home to him that could be his fate,
I hope in the end it was quick for him. He left a huge hole in the family,
echoes of which still reverberate today, so long after that tragic day.
I still have the model boat he made for his children before he left.
