John Robert Stansfield A Shipley young man, Engine-room Artificer John Robert Stansfield, 17 West Cliffe Road, was also a member of the crew of H.M.S. Black Prince. He had been with the ship two years last April, joining the Navy six years ago.
Stansfield was born at Undercliffe, Bradford 28 years ago, being the only son of Mr. and Mrs. John Tennant Stansfield. He was well known in Oddfellowship circles at Shipley, being a P.G. of the Morning Star Lodge (Manchester Unity).
Before joining the Navy he worked at the Canal Ironworks, Shipley, and being an excellent swimmer was a valuable member of the Swimming Club connected with the works.
