Fred survived the sinking of the Warrior and stayed in the Navy for the rest of the war. He caught TB at some time during his Royal Navy service and died in November 1919 aged 21.

His older brother, Joseph Charles Sheldon, also fought at Jutland on H.M.S. Cochrane		 Spike Sheldon
