ROBERT ERNEST ROWLANDS

We regret to learn of the death in the big naval battle of Robt. Ernest (Bobbie) Rowlands, a first-class boy who was serving on the Black Prince. His home was at 25, Commonhall-street, and much sympathy is felt with his parents and relatives. He was 17 years of age, and had been the Navy only about ten months. He trained on another ship, and had been to sea only once or twice on the Black Prince before he met his death. Prior to enlisting he was employed at Messrs. Brook Hirst's. Deceased's parents have received official intimation from the Admiralty notifying their son's death, and a message of sympathy from the King and Queen. The young sailor's father, Pte. Wm. Rowlands, is serving in the Cheshires abroad, and is now in hospital sick. Another son is abroad with the local Territorial Artillery.
