Rare real photographic postcard of 218596 Able Seaman William Arthur Pugh serving with HMS Nomad and interned as a Prisoner of War at Brandenburg Camp. Believd to be the Prisoner standing on the right; together with a very young boy sailor [not from Nomad as there were no Boys in her crew]. Both are standing in the grounds of a compound, smoking a cigarette. Able Seaman Pugh was captured during the Fleet action at Jutland on 31 May 1916. Name and POW address to reverse - sent to Mrs A.A. Howard 42 Kassarrin St, Eastney, Portsmouth, England. The reverse has a cleanly stamped Camp cache stamp - for Brandenburg [ Gepruft F.A. No 4.]. Photo by Friedrich Schroeder, Brandenburg a. H. Postcard in very good overall condition for age. 218596 Able Seaman William Arthur Pugh was born on 22/10/1884 at Warrington, Lancs. Gave trade before enlistment as Tanner. Wartime service Woolwich until posting to HMS Tiger 2.7.1915 - 12.4.1916 and HMS Nomad from 13.4.1916 until capture on 31.5.1916.

He seems to have been provided with a German rather than Naval hat!
