LEADING STOKER E.W. PONTING.
The names of the men published in the official casualty lists, on Monday, included among those lost with H.M.S. Tipperary, one of the torpedo-boat destroyers that went down in the North Sea battle, that of Leading Stoker E. W. Ponting. Aged 32, he was before the war, a fireman at Lewisham (High-street) Station, where his widow and two children are living. The news that he has been lost has occasioned deep regret among his old colleagues in the Brigade, aomng whom he was very popular.		 Lewisham Borough News 16 June 1916 via Spike Sheldon
