REYNOLDS PALMER, who has
received the Distinguished Service Order
for conspicuous gallantry in the Jutland
Battle, is a son of Mrs. Palmer, of Little-
hill, Instow. He is one of five brothers
who have served their country, one (Capt.
W. G. Palmer) having been killed and
another (Lieut. L.E. Palmer) severely
wounded. Lieut.-Commander Palmer was
mentioned in Admiral Sir John Jellicoe's
first dispatch regarding the battle some
time ago. The award was made for his
gallantry, when his destroyer was dis-
abled, in proceeding to the assistance of
Onslow and taking her in tow under heavy
shell fire. He succeeded in towing her in
a heavy sea until relieved by tugs when
in sight of land. Numerous friends in
North Devon have tendered him and his
mother their hearty congratulations on
the honour conferred upon him and so
richly deserved
