| Members of Dereham mourn the loss of a grand old man of the sea, Shipmate Oscar Pum- mell, who died aged 93. A sur- vivor of the Battle of Jutland, he joined HMS Ganges as a Boy Seaman when the Ganges was a ship afloat at Harwich. As an Officers' Steward, he served the highest ranks and Royalty. He was twice winner of the RN/RM cross country championships and also repre- sented the Navy and Kent in the sport. |
