More about those
Jutland medals

IN the August issue of "Navy
News, informatioin was
sought regarding the medal
struck for the Battle of Jutland,

I have one, in white metal.

They were also struck in silver
and gold, and sold in the Fleet
to assist the widows and
orphans of the men killed in
that action.

It was the idea of Prince
Louis of Battenburg, who was
an admiral in our Navy, but
was not serving at that period.

For my white metal medal I
believe I paid 4s. The silver and
gold were, of course, more
costly.

I myself served in H.M.S.
Orion.
