JOHN RICHARD KING TUNBRIDGE WELLS SAILOR KILLED IN ACTION. SEAMAN JOHN RICHARD KING Among those lost on H.M.S. Indefatigable was Seaman John Richard King, son of Chief Petty Officer Walter H. King, of His Majesty's Trawler "Arley," a native of Tunbridge Wells, and of Mrs. King, St George's Cottage, Hurstpierpoint, Hassocks. "Jack" King was educated at St. James' School, Tunbridge Wells. At the age of 11 1/2 he entered Greenwich School, and from that institution he went to the Royal Naval Barracks, Shotley. In January of this year he joined his first ship, which was the "Indefatigable." |
