SEAMAN JOHN RICHARD KING
Among those lost on H.M.S. Indefatigable was Seaman John Richard King, son of Chief Petty Officer Walter H. King, of His Majesty's Trawler "Arley," a native of Tunbridge Wells, and of Mrs. King, St George's Cottage, Hurstpierpoint, Hassocks. "Jack" King was educated at St. James' School, Tunbridge Wells. At the age of 11 1/2 he entered Greenwich School, and from that institution he went to the Royal Naval Barracks, Shotley. In January of this year he joined his first ship, which was the "Indefatigable."
