BARROWFORD STOKER

LOST ON H.M.S. WARRIOR.

Mr. Jos. Astin, 2, Brook-street, Barrowford,
has received a message from the Admiralty
notifying him that his son, 1st Class Stoker
Arthur Astin, of H.M.S. Warrior, was killed
in the naval battle. He had served on the
Warrior since joining the Navt a little over
three years ago. Astin was over on leave in
the early part of last month. A prominent
local boxer, he had figured in many tourna-
ments in the district, where he was best known
as "Tapper" Astin. He was 22 years of age,
and prior to joining the Navy was employed
as a weaver at Barrowford.
