BARROWFORD STOKER LOST ON H.M.S. WARRIOR. Mr. Jos. Astin, 2, Brook-street, Barrowford, has received a message from the Admiralty notifying him that his son, 1st Class Stoker Arthur Astin, of H.M.S. Warrior, was killed in the naval battle. He had served on the Warrior since joining the Navt a little over three years ago. Astin was over on leave in the early part of last month. A prominent local boxer, he had figured in many tourna- ments in the district, where he was best known as "Tapper" Astin. He was 22 years of age, and prior to joining the Navy was employed as a weaver at Barrowford. |
