Memories of Jutland BOY First Class Frederick Charles Morris, now 92, was serving in the battle- ship HMS Marlborough on 31 May 1916 when she was struck by a torpedo. "Our gunlayer said: "Get your Number One suits ready" - meaning since the ship was damaged we'd all get leave while she was being repaired. "And that's what hap- pended - we wound up in a floating dock in Jarrow." See page 16 - "Clash of the Titans". |
